This article is specifically about my journey over the course of years where I started my passion in fitness. And, I hope this will enlighten you up on your fitness journey too.
My name is Luba, I grew up in Belarus.
To broaden my vision, I moved to Malaysia, and spent most my professional fitness career in the beautiful city of Kuala Lumpur.
I am a Dancer and “Mover”. I love to move and that is what keeps me positive, happy and complete.
As a dancer, I had minor knee injury and never completed treatment properly. As such, it kept troubling me. As we age, our old injuries never disappear and give us more trouble if we are not treating well.
I started my Fitness Career here in Kuala Lumpur as a Personal Trainer (PT) and Group Fitness Instructor (GFI). I am certified by American Council on Exercise (ACE) and staying up to date attending courses by international fitness professionals.
But dancing is my passion so I became a Zumba Instructor, teaching group classes, enjoying dancing and great music: what could be better for dancers? But then my old knee injury started to trouble me again. So I had to admit myself: I have to change activity and keep moving and make sure it will make me happy and satisfied.
I am practicing Ashtanga Yoga as well, yes I was quite addicted and wanted to do some fancy poses when my body was not ready for it. So one more problem, my neck.
It was one more sign, I have to be more careful, mindful.
The way I always wanted to take Pilates courses, the Universe worked for me. I happened to be in the right place at the right time. I was learning from the best, dedicated myself to it as I feel that Pilates is the perfect program – safe, effective, challenging and suitable for all levels.
Have to admit, when I started to attend Pilates classes I felt a bit bored, it seems easy for me. I never paid attention to small muscles, I couldn’t understand the way it works and why I need it if I can do things easily because of my strength and flexibility. I was corrected by my teacher and felt anything I did was wrong. A bit annoying in a way, but I stick to it and benefit from being stubborn to get this knowledge “power of Pilates”.
What can I say! Being practicing and teaching Pilates, I have created my own approach, I do experience all sequences I bring to my classes, and do my best to give correct cues in simple language – so make it safe, effective and approachable for participants.
Pilates makes you stronger, more flexible and mobile. It will help you in your daily life activity and other fitness activities you are involved in.
I keep practicing Ashtanga Yoga, I am not so ambitious. I just do what my body is able to do and focus on my breathing, this is part of my routine.
When I keep dancing, I have noticed my body is stronger and softer at the same time – the way I create such balance without noticing it: I AM doing PILATES.
Do treat yourself with PILATES, overcome old injuries with Pilates and create a safe foundation for other things you like to do that makes you HAPPY!
