Pilates is a fitness program for everyone.
If the goal is to Lose weight – Pilates will help you with this.
In general, any physical activity contributes to weight loss. The main thing is to have fun and enjoy it!
I plan my classes so that after 45 minutes you will sweat and feel all the muscles that have been involved. And I also like this feeling: as if the navel is stuck to the spine – it means that you managed to activate those small muscles that usually “sleep”.
Power Pilates includes:
- cardio element, – (Pilates in a standing position, dynamic movements, accelerate the pace; use dumbbells, elastic band, ball, chair): https://youtu.be/muuzz736suw
- basic Pilates exercises (“twisting”, “hundred”, “rolls like a ball”, “criss cross”, “roll down”, “roll over”, “bridging”, etc ) with dumbbells, speed up the pace and more repetitions.
Intensity is increasing: https://youtu.be/NIbYZ3TU0Ec
I try to combine several muscle groups in one exercise. We develop coordination and it’s fun, good brain work as well!
In 45 minutes we work out the whole body and make sure to stretch: not only at the end of the class, but also between exercises – the body is warmed up and easier to stretch.

Yes, Sweat it out! Calories? Here’s what regular Pilates practitioner said:
“On average, I’d say approximately 400 – 500 calories for a 45 min online Pilates class. I burn a bit more if I’m using those 2kg weights – but I’m loving the 1kg ones! (Those tiny pulses sure add up! )”.
Well, here we come to the main question: FOOD.
The principle of weight management: “Eat more calories than you spend – you get fat, less – you lose weight”. The simple rule everyone knows. If the goal is to lose weight, you must bear in mind.
I have been dieting all my life, trying something new. For 2 years now I am not taking meat, fish, eggs, and I am avoiding dairy products. My main food: Carbohydrates! ( good carbs ).
Proteins: chickpeas, nuts, soy. This works for me, and I feel that it is right food choice in meantime. And – this is not even a diet, but a style of eating habit. I enjoy my food!
I am not saying that my food choice is right for everyone. My journey – my experience. When you feel right – it’s important. We are not developing “bulky” body, we are not stressing on “long and lean muscles”. We want strong, functional, healthy body and Have fun doing Pilates in a safe and effective way!
I don’t count calories, I practice and teach Pilates, I love my body!
