MOTIVATING KIDS TO BE ACTIVE

Recently I overheard a mother & daughter conversation . 18th years old girl has been asking her mother to buy her pass to gym. The way mother told her: “ No, better study !”

No comments.

I just realised how lucky I was that my mother put me in a dancing school and I developed my love to movements, built myself through movements, my confidence, my life being.

I am not sure what my mother’s intention was. But three of us ( my sisters and I ) been physically active.

But that time fitness industry wasn’t developed so much, we couldn’t explore much.

Nowadays: so many physical activities you can do, can really explore and find a fitness program that satisfies your body, mind and makes you overall Happy!

HOW TO MOTIVATE CHILDREN

  • LISTEN : she/ he wants to try any sport, fun game, dancing class. Give it a try! Doesn’t matter if it won’t work.
  • OBSERVE: you child likes to dance in front of TV, play with a ball, etc.
  • DO THINGS TOGETHER: do rock climbing together, swim together, walking, hiking, play games. Make it FUN!
  • SHOW EXAMPLE; stay fit and active and be HAPPY!

WHY WE SHOULD ENCOURAGE KIDS TO EXERCISE 

  • To build culture of physical activities 
  • To develop coordination and physical skills 
  • To be strong, healthy and confident with their body and physical abilities 

BY TIME THEY GET INDEPENDENT:

  • Theirs body will be craving for exercise
  • They will know what type of activities makes them happy
  • They will make more healthy choices and lead an active lifestyle unconsciously
